At the heart of Mmakamba Empowerment Foundation, a philanthropic initiative dedicated to empowering women, youth. Founded by Patricia Smith this foundation is an extension of her passion for giving back and transforming lives trough skill acquisition, mentorship, and entrepreneurship.

Our Mission

The Mmakamba Empowerment Foundation is committed to fostering the growth of Africa’s next generation of creative and entrepreneurial talents. Through our programs, we aim to provide opportunities that equip individuals with the skills and resources they need to thrive, both personally and professionally. We focus on offering mentorship, training and financial support to help individuals develop sustainable careers, particularly in the arts, fashion, and creative industries.

Our Programs & Initiatives

1. Skill Acquisition & Vocational training in fashion design, textile arts and entrepreneurship. These programs are designed to equip young people, especially women, with the tools they need to start their own businesses or secure employment in the creative sector

2. Mentorship & Entrepreneurial Development

   Through our mentoring programs, we connect aspiring entrepreneurs with seasoned professionals who offer guidance and support on their journey to success. Over the years, we have mentored more than 100 entrepreneurs across diverse countries in Africa, helping them refine their ideas and scale their businesses.

3. Collaborations with Global Partners

   The Foundation has proudly partnered with leading global organizations, including the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Prada Group. to launch impactful initiatives such as “Fashion Expression: The Story She Wears.” The project, currently in Kenya and Ghana, uses fashion as a medium to tell powerful stories, creating opportunities for women to express themselves while gaining valuable skills and resources.

4. Scholarships & Financial Assistance

   Through our scholarship programs, we help financially disadvantaged students access education and vocational training. This support is extended to cover tuition fees, learning materials, and other essential resources, ensuring that lack of finances does not stand in the way of anyone’s dreams.

Our Impact

Since its inception, the Mmakamba Empowerment Foundation has reached thousands of individuals across Africa. We’ve trained over 500 secondary school students in Nigeria, provided mentorship to hundreds of entrepreneurs, and supported numerous initiatives aimed at promoting creative expression and economic empowerment.
